I could probably have come up with 7 things that are bad about IM conferences but since I am a glutton for sales pitches, I’m back off to Earl’s Court for more of the Speedcashseminar that I mentioned in my last post.
So, let’s get down to it. 3 things that fill us with joy at these events!
Waiting at the end of each session for anything up to 30 minutes for the pitch to finish
Sitting in fluorescent lighting all day when it’s sunny outside (and that’s rare for London!)
Knowing there is no real food anywhere nearby even when the short lunch break arrives
On the flip side, maybe I should balance those out with some reasons to be cheerful. How about:
Talking to some great people and finding the glimmerings of a cool joint venture
The speakers that really work for the audience. Steven Essa, hats off to you sir!
Realising that life can never be as hard as it seems to have been to every IM speaker
What do you love about internet marketing conferences? Add a comment and let me know. This could run and run!
I’m headed off to Mark Anastasi’s London internet marketing event at Earl’s Court tomorrow, so I hope to bring you news of what goes on as it happens. If you are there, ping me on twitter.com/martinpercival I will be taking beer vouchers just in case!
I am as guilty as the next person of making assumptions about where people start from in their internet marketing journey. Even though I have already talked about this spectrum of experience in an earlier post, it was only last night that it really came home to me just how much I take for granted.
How to add an image to a wordpress post.
So, for all of you who are really starting from scratch with this stuff, I will try to cover it all. Apologies to those who are more advanced, but we all started somewhere, right? Never fear, there will be more advanced stuff for you too.
Diving straight in then. A picture is meant to be worth a thousand words but how do you get that glorious image into your post in WordPress in the first place? Let’s just assume that I have an image that I want to use in this particular post, in fact let’s assume that I have made a WordPress Learners image to brand all of this type of video. What do I need to do with it?
Here’s a short video of the whole process if you are going to do it directly in the WordPress Admin page as you build a post. As you can see in the video, this is the exact same post I was using while recording. The only difference is that I hadn’t linked this video in from youtube yet. I hope this helps, have fun!
I made the promise in my last post, that I would not be back here until I had filled my commitment to get my own company set up.
Well, I’m happy to say that it has all gone through and I am now the proud Director of a new UK Limited company. I may even reveal the name after getting it all up and running.
The act of making it all public on here was a definite driving factor. If you are still looking for ways to force yourself into action….just blog about what you are going to do.
I made a short video in the centre of London last week after providing some consultancy that morning, knowing that I would be able to book it against my new company….the feeling was exhilarating. I could definitely get used to this style of life. I’ll try to put it up after a bit of tidying up.
