Three Months to Change the World with List-Building?

Some of you will have seen my first stab at a month’s worth of list-building starting back at the beginning of December – and will have seen me slowly fade away as the month progressed!

What on earth possessed me to think I could really do 31 updates on here in the month of events and presents? I have no idea. In fact, it would have been almost impossible, as I spent several days in Paris before Christmas and then 5 days in Iceland leading up to New Year….and yes, I did get some pics of the Northern Lights. Due on here when I find a decent flickr plugin.

So where does that leave 2012?

List-Building is Back!

Strangely, I’m determined to follow-through with the list thing. I know that many of you are looking for ways to get this done, and I feel an obligation to finish what I started, so list-building is back on.

The problem I have now, even though it’s a fun problem to have, is that I am working as an interim manager (for 90 days) at one of the big UK media agencies. You wouldn’t believe the scale of their media buys compared to mine :)

As a result, I am now officially employed. What that means is that I will only be able to work on my personal business in the hours before and after doing “the job”. I guess that will make my efforts more easily comparable to all of you that still have a full-time job and are working in IM as a means to get out of the rat-race.

So, here’s my next 3o day commitment….well, up to the end of February anyway.

I will be keeping this site up to date every day with what I have achieved in the list-building challenge. In fact, what I think I will do, is set up a separate list just for those who want to follow along, with the promise that it will only be used for list-building content. If that is where you need to be concentrating next, watch out for my follow-up announcement.

In the mean time, I have a couple of sites that I’m setting up to help folk in the IM world find the information they need to make their lives easier. I’ll fill you in on those as they spring into life.

Finally, why 3 months to change the world with list-building?  Well, that’s how long I have in paid employment before I am back to earning my money from IM, and I intend this list-building exercise to be a big part of that success.

Free Keyword of the Week 5

One of the things I have learned about myself over the last few weeks/months/years is that I’m a particularly strong researcher. What that means is that I love to dif around in subjects and find out stuff. What it does not mean is that I’m any good at making that stuff happen! I’m not what Myers-Briggs calls a “completer-finisher”.

The good thing for everyone reading, is that finding keywords feels like researching to me. I love to dig around and check out all the details of keyword subjects and that’s why you get free keywords here every week.

What am I doing about my personality? Well, you may or may not have seen the Ezinearticles hundred day challenge appear again (started yesterday). This is an end of year challenge to get a hundred articles written in the hundred days left before the end of the year…hopefully getting to Platinum status in the process and theoretically generating a load of traffic to wherever you point it. Now, since I have to write some articles anyway, I’ve signed up for the challenge…we’ll see how it goes.

I’m tempted at the same time to sign up for John Carlton’s Simple Writing System – combining the article writing experience with learning copywriting from the master. I’m just not sure if that’s biting off one too many things to do. I’d be interested to hear what you think of the idea…..does anyone need a tame copywriter that’s been trained by John?

Anyway, you came here for keywords, so here they are. Two this week, one for the US, one for the UK with a bit of a shared theme.

First up for the US: Doctor Who Episodes

According the new keyword tool this gets 8,100 exact searches a month and it’s not so much of a buyer’s phrase, but with access to these episodes being harder to get hold of in America,  you could monetize it with some DVD sales or toys relating to Doctor Who.  As soon as you look at phrase match, this jumps to 18,000 and the US is the biggest searcher for this keyword phrase – no idea why it isn’t the UK!

Second one for the UK: Doctor Who Games     (You see the theme now!)

This gets a huge 18,100 exact searches a month, rising to 22,000 phrase match. Almost 100% of these searches come from the UK. I won’t state the obvious here, but…..Christmas!!

As always, with both of these, there’s a TLD available.

As a special bonus – because you’ve been so good – here’s a range of things to look up for yourself, mainly because typing the numbers out gets tedious.

Check out “almost any kind of animal for sale”. So, for example “ferrets for sale”. If you whiz that through the keyword tool a couple of times, I think you’ll be amazed at just how many domains are available if you want to be a specialist animal seller :-) Maybe I’ll relent and show you what I’ve found if anyone shows any real interest!

Day 24 – Earnings Summary

I thought I’d better get this posted quickly before another day goes by without an update.

The last 6 days have been up and down in several areas. Adsense has been very erratic but Amazon and Clickbank have made up for that a bit. Overall, the numbers come out as follows:

Adsense: $1.20
Amazon: $3.75
Clickbank: $7.36

So my hosting looks like it might get covered soon :)

More tomorrow.

Day 19 – Site updates

Yesterday and today have both been good days for productivity. I got a new article up for my niche site and into EZA, then took the first and got it spun up and into Link Juicer and added it to all the big directories like Amazines etc.

Today was all about setting up two more sites, writing 3 articles for the first site and getting the first one spun ready for EZA. I got accepted into a program off the back of Shareasale and that’s ready to go in articles two and three in true Bring the Fresh style.

I think I may push the envelope a bit with Ezinearticles and submit my article to LJ at the same time just to get moving on some ranking. It’s a gamble that EZA still think it’s unique and lets it in, but I’m keener to get a block of links going than wait for another week for approval.

Tomorrow will be setting up the second new site, writing 3 articles ready for that one, and doing the same game with EZA, but this time I think with UAW instead of Link Juicer, just to see what happens.

Earnings for yesterday: 10c on adsense

Total Earnings for August

In the interests of transparency, I thought I would give you the final totals for every stream of income in August. This is obviously the “bottom line” and is what I need to grow for this project to be a success.

Adsense Earnings: £4.60 ~ $6.90
Amazon US Earnings $6.16
Amazon UK Earnings £3.25 ~ $4.87
Clickbank book Earnings $21.74

Giving a grand total of $39.67

Well, it’s not going to set the world on fire, but none of the newer sites are really pulling their weight yet, so I’m pretty happy that my hosting is covered.

I hope by now that someone has snapped up the domains I mentioned in the last post’s video. If not, get down there. I’m thinking of doing a new series of videos on some of the stuff I have learned about setting up WPZonBuilder and its templates and how to use them with a particular wordpress theme. If that sounds interesting, I’m keen to hear what you would like to see in those videos. Fire up the ideas machine and let me know down below.
